Overview

Created by a physio for physios, this self-paced online course aims to provide all the material typically covered in a standard Reformer certification course without the requirement of Mat courses, teaching hours, and anatomy lectures.

Over 100 classical exercises and 30 variations are divided into succinct modules organized by anatomical region (trunk, upper quadrant, lower quadrant) as well as level of functional difficulty.  Every module includes a lecture, client demonstration, rehabilitation variations, and downloadable PDF handouts.

Learn how using the Reformer can assist in evaluating and treating ambulatory clients for improved effectiveness and time efficiency. Multiple adaptations can be found throughout the course to accommodate various client needs and allow for therapist creativity.

To summarise the material, two case studies are included to help with practice integration.

The course concludes with two live Zoom calls Sunday Jan 12th and Feb 2nd 2025 for Q & A and case discussion.  It is recommended that learners have viewed the course material before joining the Zoom calls for optimal gain. Learners will have access to the recordings for 6 months.

What’s included:

  • Approx 20 hours of concise teaching videos organized into 16 modules (13 modules of exercises and 3 other supplemental modules i.e., introduction, manual therapy, and case studies.)
  • Two live Q&A Zoom calls on Sunday January 12th and Sunday Feb 2nd @ 10AM PST/1PM EST (2 hours each) to help clarify course material and teach new variations. Learners will also have the opportunity to consult with Ellen about using the Reformer with their own clients.
  • Lifetime online access
  • Downloadable PDF handouts
  • Quick Start guide for general Reformer usage and safety basics
  • Verbal cueing tip sheet

She soon discovered her love of teaching and later went on to complete a MSc in Community Health in 2013 with a focus in Health Practitioner Education at the University of Toronto. The majority of her career has been focused in rehab with her current area of interest being postpartum pelvic health in the context of orthopedics. Aside from being a licensed physio in Ontario, Ellen is also a certified Pilates Instructor in Mat, Reformer, and Chair. FAQs

Great Question! I have personally used Reformer repertoire for ambulatory patients with orthopedic, neurological, oncological, pelvic health, and cardiopulmonary needs.  Every exercise has so much to offer that all you need to do is bring focus and intention to suit your patient population.

It is strongly recommended that you have access to a Reformer to not only understand and feel the exercises, but see just how enjoyable Pilates can be.  However, several clinicians have taken this course prior to purchasing a Reformer.  If space is a limitation, there are some high quality Reformers on the market that can be stored vertically when not in use.

Once you have completed the course, a certificate of completion (including learning hours and course information) will be generated. You can download this certificate at any time. To learn more about course certificates on Embodia please visit this guide.
