What They Didn't Teach You in School: How to Work Less, Earn More, and Enjoy Life!

Introduction

In this corner, Paul "One Minute Practice" Wright, hailing all the way from Beautiful Australia, and in this corner, Karim "Independent Contractor Ninja" Meghji, from the much colder, but also beautiful, Canada.

Listen to these two discuss all the things that they didn't teach you in school! Paul and Karim will share their trade secrets and help you grow your business, in this continuing education physiotherapy course, How Health Professionals Can Earn More, Work Less, and Enjoy Life.

Paul, an expert on the franchise model of business, is so knowledgable and experienced about the business of healthcare, and the business of business, that whether you are interested in franchising your rehabilitative or physiotherapy business is not even relevant; Paul will without a doubt give you a wealth of knowledge regardless of whether you operate as a business owner, an employee, or as a private contractor.

But, let's not take all of Paul's advice about being a private contractor (after all, Paul is all about the franchise business model). Karim, on the other hand, is a highly successful independent contractor in a business that often views independent contractors like cancer.

Karim has spent his entire life persuading people to buy things (and what is a business if not persuading people to buy things). He was so interested in human behaviour that he went on to study Behavioral Psychology before becoming a physiotherapist. Karim brings his unique background to this unique new business arena, where patients or consumers may no longer be looking for what they once were.

Watch these two heavyweights expound their ideas to take home the coveted BBM prize! P.S. BBM stands for Best Business Model, I just made it up, you don't have to remember it, the only prize is good business.

Warring models aside though, you will likely learn a great deal from both of these lecturers and walk away with many excellent ideas for your business, whether you own a business, or whether you are the business. After this course, you will be on your way to using your preferred, or a combination of methods, to help you earn more, work less, and enjoy life.

You can get to know the two contenders in this brief introduction video below:

Age Before Beauty

Let’s get started with Paul, in this blog we won’t give away all of the key tips mentioned by Paul in this course (although we have a feeling that he won’t mind even if we did, he’s just that kinda person), we will definitely give away a few!

So Here Are Two of Them:

  1. Available market: Before you start your franchise prototype, you must look at the available market. Is there enough market for the service you want to provide?
  2. Available labour: Is there enough labour to do the work? Because you aren’t going to be doing the work yourself!

As rehabilitative practitioners and physiotherapists, we are masters of falling in love with our product instead of falling in love with our market; this is a grave mistake! The primary job of any business owner is to identify a starving crowd and fill the need; what do the people want?

Watch this brief highlight video from this course, in which Paul discusses these two tips in a greater deal, accompanied by rather amusing examples, and marketing advice to keep your business out of trouble!

Ninja Time

Let’s switch our gears over to Karim; Karim explains that if you are looking to have a successful business as an independent contractor, you must look at your practice as a business, (see, they do agree sometimes). Technical excellence just gets you a ticket to enter the marketplace, it doesn't guarantee success.

You need to spend time working on the business (which in this case is you). As we tell our patients, small, incremental changes lead to large changes. If you improve your practice by 2% on a weekly basis, your practice will soon be a completely different one! You can systemize, increase productivity, increase patient results, and make yourself more efficient, all without having to squeeze-in patients at every waking hour or having to work back-breaking hours. You can create the perfect success/fulfillment ratio that is just right for you!

Having a purpose is extremely crucial to your success! Conor McGregor, the now-retired boxer, attributed his victories not to his training, but to his internal work with Tony Robbins because he figured out what was most important to him and went in fully! But if you want to truly champion your sessions, you should follow the Three C’s discussed by Karim in this course!

Paul Wright
Paul Wright B.App.Sc (Physio), Dip. Ed. (Phys. Ed.), Adv. Dip. Business Management

Since graduating as a Physical Education teacher in 1987, and then as a physiotherapist in 1990, Paul Wright has opened multiple multi-disciplinary health clinics, closed a few, been locked out of one and sold some others. He has employed countless therapists and support staff, fired some and re-hired others.

Paul has been actively involved in clinical education around the world having lectured to over 25,000 health professionals - in the areas of program design, injury prevention, rehabilitation and business development and even found the time to win multiple titles as a competitive bodybuilder.

Paul Wright is living proof this “Ultimate Health Business Lifestyle” is possible.

At one stage he owned 6 successful Get Active Physiotherapy clinics in Australia, yet still spent more time at home than his wife preferred, never missed a school concert or sports carnival, and visited his clinics for only a few hours each week. While doing this he did not even live in the same city as 5 of his clinics!

Since selling his health businesses Paul now prefers spending even more time with his family and friends, at the beach, or at home working on the Million Dollar Health Professional Program, Profit Club, One on One Coaching, The Practice Acceleration Program, presenting live seminars and working on his most recent passion – The One Minute Practice program.
